KAMPALA - The Archbishop of Church of Uganda Dr Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu has directed that no more polyethene and plastic bottles will be allowed in all churches of Uganda.

He said the polyethene and plastic bottles are destroying the environment and also dangerous to human lives.

H said this during the launch of the Kaveera free churches at the Church of Uganda provincial secretariat in Namirembe on Tuesday.

Kaziimba was joined by the country director World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) David Duli.

At baptisms, confirmations and weddings, Kaziimba said: "Church leaders should plant the same number of trees commensurate to the number of the children baptized, couples wedded and confirmations made."

He said this will help not only to protect the environment but also protect the vast empty church land that is prone to land grabbing.
