The Bishop of North Kigezi diocese Kinyasano, the Rt. Rev. Benon Magezi has announced total ban on Holy Communion in all churches and church functions in the whole diocese as one of the measures to prevent the spread of covid-19 as places of worship resume after six months of closure.

"This is an important part in the life of the Christian, but we reached a consensus with the district covid-19 task force headed by the Resident District Commissioner, Dan Kaguta, to suspend Holy Communion activity at least up to Christmas. Maybe the situation would have turned normal," he said.

Bishop Magezi added that all the churches in the diocese will strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.

He said as a church, they have decided to have a thanksgiving in all Anglican churches and institutions on October 18.

At All Saints church Rukungiri, Christians flocked to the church as early as 7:00am. Only 70 People were allowed in for service although the number was bigger than required.

They organised five services.
