CELEBRATING LIFE

Despite his health challenges, Patrick Kiyemba did not forget serving God.

Kiyemba was the chairperson of the Fathers Union at Najjanankubi parish in Mengo Archdeaconry in Namirembe Diocese.

He was passionate about serving God through different church activities.

Michael Lubega, a Christian at Najjankumbi, described Kiyemba as a person with a devoted and exemplary character, who sacrificed his time and money for furthering church projects.

He used to travel from his home in Kkonge-Buziga in Makindye Division to Najjanankumbi, not only for Sunday services, but also for other activities during the week.

Kiyemba and his wife, Irene Kiyemba, got involved in an accident in Mpigi on the Kampala-Masaka road in 2014 that cost Irene a leg.

Irene had gone out of the car to buy food at a roadside market when another vehicle lost control and hit her.

In the course of treatment, her second leg was also cut off, leaving her wheelchair bound.

Nevertheless, Kiyemba remained a devoted husband.

Kiyemba also suffered multiple organ complications and was also wheelchair bound.

Amid all the trials, Kiyemba remained generous.

Kiyemba's life touched many, especially the youth whom he guided on matters concerning marriage.

Kiyemba died on January 16 and was subsequently buried at his ancestral home at Nsozibbiri-Kkooki in Rakai district.
