Uganda's COVID-19 cases increase by 326 in one day

According to a press release from the health ministry, three COVID-19 fatalities from Kampala have been confirmed bringing the total death tally to 52.

The Ministry of Health on Saturday confirmed 326 new COVID-19 cases from tests done on Friday. 4,106 samples were tested.

The cumulative total confirmed cases now stand at 4,703.

According to a press release from the health ministry, three COVID-19 fatalities from Kampala have also been confirmed bringing the total death tally to 52.

Of the 326 cases, 317 are contacts and alerts, according to the press release. Kampala registered 94, Buikwe 93, Kitgum 29, Gulu 17, Moroto 19 and Mbale registered 10.

Others districts with new cases include Amuru nine, Kapchorwa eight and Pader seven. Nwoya, Bududa and Mukono recorded five each. 

Wakiso registered four cases, Jinja two, Omoro two, Sironko three, Zombo two and Arua, Namisindwa and Tororo one case each.

The other nine cases were returnees. Five returned from India while the four others returned from Burkina Faso, Iraq, Italy and Kenya.

To date, 1998 Ugandans have recovered from the virus.
