BUSHENYI - The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential flag-bearer, Gen. Mugisha Muntu has opened the party's coordinating office for the Bushenyi region in Bushenyi town.

During the ceremony, Muntu said the party is not at war with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

"We are not at any war with FDC, because we are together in the struggle of changing the country's leadership," Muntu said, while addressing his supporters in Ankole at Premier Motel in Bushenyi.

Muntu was welcomed by Bushenyi/Ishaka Municipality FDC chairperson Milton Mwebembezi, who described ANT as a sister party.

Muntu was FDC's party president before he formed his own. He has since recruited some senior party members, such as former secretary general Alice Alaso and former Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Winfred Kiiza.

"There is no shame in politics," Kiiza said as she narrated why she opted out of elective politics.

As the NRM primaries continue, co-ordinators of the ANT party in the Ankole sub-region have said they are receiving some members seeking to join the party.

Yedidia Nyakahangura, one of the co-ordinators for Bushenyi region, said: "We are getting calls from the districts of Kiruhura, Ntungamo, Isingiro and Mbarara of people inquiring how they can join ANT."

The Ntungamo Municipality MP, Gerald Karuhanga, who also recently crossed to ANT, said there is nothing that has excited him like joining ANT. He said the reason people switch from one political party to another is because of the loss of hope.
