RUKUNGIRI - Residents of Kahoro Village, Bugangari Sub County, in Rukungiri district, have been engulfed with shock after one Benjamin, stabbed his elder brother to death.

It is alleged that Benjamin, accused his brother, Alex Tayebwa, 24, of attempting to beat their mother, Sylvia Arineitwe, 38, a resident of the same area.

According to Arineitwe, her son (now deceased) came back home on Friday, evening at around 11 pm, and started threatening to beat her up.

"Out of fear, I fled my home and went to my neighbour's place, one Dinah, where I spent a night," she said.

Surprisingly, in the morning, Tayebwa (deceased) followed his mother at Dinah's home determined to teach her a lesson.

This allegedly irked his young brother, Benjamin who picked a panga ready to retaliate in case anything happened to his mother.

"When they reached Dinah's place and Tayebwa started chasing the mother, Benjamin also chased him and cut him on the left leg," an eyewitness said.

They tried to take the victim to the hospital for treatment but breathed his last along the way.

As a result, a murder case was reported at Bugangari Police station which later referred the matter to Rukungiri Police Station. A case file vide CRB 1660/2020 was opened.

The Kigezi regional Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, told New Vision, that, "We have arrested four suspects to assist us in investigations as we continue with the hunt for the key suspect one Benjamin, who is currently on the run," he said.
