Deputy IGP rushes to Sembabule over NRM polls violence

Some of the UPDF officers deployed at Sembabule district

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Muzeyi Sabiiti, has rushed to Sembabule district as clashes between warring supporters of National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates worsen.

Also, security has been beefed up in the area, with trucks full of soldiers and policemen arriving in the district on Thursday ahead of the party primaries on Friday.

Both the Police and UPDF officers have been deployed in large numbers to prevent any form of violence and irregularities.

By Thursday, Sabiiti was said to be holding a private security meeting in Sembabule.

Among the hotly contested seats in Sembabule is Mawogola North, where Shatsi Kutesa is contesting against Aine Kaguta.

The other hot seat is Lwemiyaga County where Theodore Sekikubo is contesting against Minister Joy Kabatsi.

In Mawogola West Anifa Kawooya is battling it out with Joseph Sekabiito. Kawooya was recently beaten up, resulting in the arrest of three supporters of Sekabiito.
