Kampala - The Judiciary has suspended the biometric check-in and check -out system for its staff over continued spike by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

In a circular issued on Tuesday, Secretary to the Judiciary Pius Bigirimana said the move is envisaged to control the rampant spread of COVID-19, which the country has been grappling with since March.

"This is to inform you that the operation of the Judiciary time attendance biometric system is hereby suspended with immediate effect until further notice,"Bigirimana stated.

Judiciary installed the biometric system to track staff attendance on duty but Bigirimana says it has turned out to be a high point of contact as all staff use their fingers to check-in and check-out.

Most of the judiciary staff have since returned to work to carry out their constitutional mandate of adjudicating justice to beat the slogan of Justice delayed is justice denied.
