UNRA said the offices will be closed from today until Thursday to allow contact tracing and disinfecting of the premises.

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has announced that it will temporarily close offices in Jinja City after two of their staff there tested positive for COVID-19.

UNRA said the offices will be closed from today until Thursday to allow contact tracing and disinfecting of the premises.

The two staff are part of the 107 samples taken on August 26.

Also last week six UNRA staff tested positive for coronavirus. Of the six, five were confirmed from UNRA headquarters, Nakawa Business Park while the other was identified at the UNRA regional office in Masindi.

UNRA management embarked on testing its staff for COVID-19 as a proactive measure to detect and prevent the spread of the virus and to offer adequate support to staff in a timely manner.

In their statement, UNRA noted: "We appeal to all our clients and the general public to continue practicing proper health hygiene as advised by the Ministry of Health including regular washing of hands, wearing facemasks, avoiding close contact and refraining from shaking hands among others."

The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 2,928, with 30 deaths recorded as of August 30, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
