The parliament public accounts committee has faulted officials from Mulago National Referral Hospital over failure to collect the targeted non-tax revenue of sh13b.

The officials, led by the executive director Baterana Byarugaba, appeared before the committee chaired by Budadiri West MP Nandala Mafabi to respond to the auditor general's queries for the financial year 2018/2019.

When asked to explain why out of the sh13b in non-tax revenue the hospital only managed to collect sh3.9b, Baterana noted that they could not meet their targets as both Kiruddu and Kawempe referral hospitals had become independent and lower Mulago was undergoing renovations.

Baterana said that the funds were to be collected from patient admissions in these hospitals, which were no longer part of Mulago National Referral Hospital.
