Three murdered in Kabale

KABALE - The Police in Kabale district is investigating circumstances under which three people were allegedly murdered on Saturday night.

Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incidents. He noted that the first two cases were reported by one Charles Turyamubona Bisati, the Chairman LC1 of Kanyankyiriro cell in  Kabale municipality.

Maate said that the unknown people were found lying alongside Nyabikoni road at Kavacado trading centre in Kanyankyiriro cell at around 8:00 pm.

"Police visited the scene and found one of the victims identified as Kijungu Byamukama,32, alias Kajapan a resident of Nyakyiharo cell Mwanjari ward southern division dead and the second victim only known as Yasin Munyarwanda of Kanyankyiriro cell who died upon arrival at Kabale referral hospital," Maate said.

He revealed that the two were lynched by a mob. "Both were mechanics working at Garage Street in Kabale. Some exhibits were recovered at the scene including master keys and a pair of pliers," Maate added.

He said the third victim, one Arisansira Marikyoli Alias Kareju, a 38-year-old resident of Nyarungwe village Katookye parish Kyanamira sub-county, was found lying along the road near Rubira playground.

"Police visited the scene. His head had injuries and we suspect that he was strangled by unknown people," Maate added.

He noted that all the bodies had been taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem as efforts to hunt for culprits behind these murders is ongoing.
