Today In History: Defiant Kabaka Muteesa says he won't abdicate throne

The first president of Uganda and king of Buganda had fled the country after the raid on his palace on orders of his former prime minister, Milton Obote.

August 23, 1966: Former president and exiled king of Buganda Edward Muteesa stated that he had no intention of abdicating his throne; and that he planned to return to Uganda.
