One of Busoga's first few British trained nurse of the 1960's era has died.

Mrs Ida Kitimbo Waluube, mother of two boys and the daughter to the Late Busoga Chief of Bugweri Yekonia Zirabamuzaale Menya Kibedi (Grandfather to the current Bugweri Chief Samuel Nkutu Menya) was among the few colonial trained nurses to serve the country with many now aged and a few left standing.

Ida, a registered nurse (RCN) in Britain UK had trained in different nursing fields, including general nursing, midwifery, paediatrics and surgery, utilising her clinical skills and experience in saving the then Uganda President H. E. Dr Apollo Milton Obote in 1969, following an attempted assassination at Lugogo Cricket grounds.

Academic excellence in Busoga has been challenging and declining in recent years but now picking up. Education bursaries in the 60's were for the academically exceptional students regardless of their social or economic status, that a Princess (Omumbejja) from Bugweri with a prominent father had to go through the rigours of recruitment and was successful.

Busoga has lost an endearing, loving, caring and beyond intelligent daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be seen off to her final resting place on Saturday August 22, at Igombe Bugweri District.
