Today in History: Uganda rejoins Commonwealth Parliamentary Association

August 19, 1996: The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association executive committee accepted Uganda's application for re-entry into the CPA. The decision was made at a three day executive committee meeting held in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia. Uganda had lost her membership after the 1985 coup. After Uganda's first elections in June 1996, the CPA granted her entry.
