Ten-year-old girl kidnapped, suspects demand sh2m

The Police authorities in Rubanda district are investigating circumstances under which a 10-year-old girl went missing from home more than a week ago.

According to the Police, the unknown assailant(s) are asking for a sh2m ransom.

"The victim is one Kemigisha Kelvin Labren, a daughter to Moses Turyahikayo of Kashakyi B cell, Nyamiyaga parish Bubare sub-county, Rubanda district," a Police statement said.

It is alleged that the girl went missing on August 8 from home after she arrived from Kamukyira Health Centre in Kabale district where she had gone to check on a sick brother who was admitted there together with the parents.

"She went missing mysteriously from home and the assailants called the father last Saturday the 15/8/2020 at around 22:00 hours asked for money to let her free, that's when yesterday they reported to the Police at Bubare," the Police statement further said.

"Any person with information that can lead the Police to the whereabouts of that girl can volunteer it so that she is recovered and reunited with the parents."
