Chinese national killed in road construction site accident

The truck driver fled the scene after the incident.

A Chinese national Lee Limin, 49, an employee of Chongqing International Construction Corporation was on Wednesday morning knocked dead at a road construction site according to the Police.

Limin was reportedly on his phone - chatting with his family - at the site when a truck among was cleared to dispense construction materials.

A second truck registration number UBD 895N was cleared to drive through to dispose of material along Kamugungunu Road that is undergoing construction in Rwebikoona cell in Mbarara City when the tragic incident occurred.

According to the Police report on the incident, Limin was rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for treatment where was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was distracted by his phone as he instructed the truck to move backwards and it ended up knocking him.

According to the Police, the truck driver Hassan Kamari fled the scene after knocking Limin.

"He (Kamari) is on the run and the Police is hunting for him," said a Police source.
