▶️ MPs urge political parties to re-examine their ideologies to avoid defections

A section of legislators has expressed the need for political parties to examine their ideologies and rebrand to match the changing politics.

This is after a group of members of parliament from Democratic party defected to the National Unity Platform (NUP).

NUP, headed by the Kyandondo East MP yesterday (Thursday, August 13, 2020) unveiled 11 MPs who included Betty Nambooze, Medard Segoona, Joseph Sewungu, Allan Sewanyana, Mathias Mpuuga, Muwanga Kivumbi among others.




The Gulu municipality MP who is also deputy whip for democratic party in parliament, Lyandro Komakech, was optimistic that they will front new candidates to fill the position although he appreciated the need to sort issues in the party to deal with defections.

The Kasese Municipality MP, Robert Centenary, says it is time parties examined their internal politics to handle their differences.

Meanwhile, Ngora County MP David Abala says political competition is good for democracy.
