IBANDA- A woman suspected to have been involved in the abduction of a minor was Wednesday charged at Ibanda Chief Magistrate's court.

Court, presided over by his worship Moses Kagoda, the chief magistrate, on Wednesday heard that Lillian Nayebare, 40, allegedly participated in the abduction of Lil (not real name) from her home in Ibanda Municipality, contravening section 126(b) of the Penal Code Act.

However, Nayebare denied the charges and was granted a non-cash court bail of sh5m.

"This is a bailable offence and the accused has presented substantial sureties before court. I, therefore, grant you a non-cash bond of sh5m, and your two sureties a similar amount," said Kagoda after a "no objection" to the bail application from the prosecution side.

Nayebare will appear again in court on September 1, when her case comes up for mention.

In court, Nayebare was tense, with clasped hands and teary eyes as she waited for her case to be read.

Meanwhile, the father of the girl was not happy that the suspect appeared in court without the family being informed.

"I wasn't informed about the hearing of the case in court today. I am just now in Ibanda town returning from hospital with my daughter," Lil's father said, adding that he had been assured by Police that he would be informed when the case would be forwarded to court.

The story of the girl who was kidnapped, forced to work as a maid, raped and infected with HIV, appeared in the New Vision on Thursday.
