P3 boy murdered, body dumped in garden

The Police in Kisoro district have started investigating the circumstances under which a 12-year-old boy was murdered.

Godfrey Duhibanze, a Primary Three pupil at Nyakabaya Primary School, was allegedly kidnapped on Saturday at 7:30pm and the next day his body was found lying in a sweet potato garden in the nearby village of Nshora.

Kigezi regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate said the deceased's body was found with injuries, an indication that he was brutalised until he passed on.

The deceased's father, Vanansi Muperu, 43, a resident of Nyarusiza sub-county in Kisoro district, recorded a statement at Police which led to the arrest of three suspects who included Robert Nkurunziza, 50, Molly Kampire, 39 and Pamela Nyirarukundo, 22.

Police added that interrogations are ongoing to ascertain whether these suspects from the same family in whose garden the body was recovered, have any connection to his death.
