Six test positive for COVID-19 on first day of August

Six people have tested positive for COVID-19, with one case being reported in Nakaseke district, two of truck drivers and three people who were repatriated from different countries recently.

The Ministry of Health posted on Twitter that tests were done on Saturday and that the cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 1,182.

According to the ministry breakdown of the figures, two were truck drivers who arrived via Malaba, three were returnees that arrived from Somalia (2) and Saudi Arabia (1)) and one alert from Nakaseke.

The ministry said five foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at the borders and their entry into the country was not permitted.

Ugandan recoveries currently stand at 1,045 with four COVID-19 deaths.
