From the street to the August house: Nabuka's story of endurance

Jul 26, 2020

Against all odds, Nabuka journeyed to Kampala in search of a better future and warmly welcomed any chance to work so as to earn a living.

After vending newspapers for five years, Geoffrey Nabuka is close to his dream of joining Uganda's lawmakers on Parliament Avenue.

His story is the archetypical rags to riches narrative. He came from Nakiswiga village, deep in Luuka district in Busoga, a region that is plagued by poverty and comparatively less progress.

Against all odds, Nabuka journeyed to Kampala in search of a better future and warmly welcomed any chance to work so as to earn a living.

Fortunately, he knew the value of hard work because he previously worked his way through school in O and A-Level, doing odd jobs at school such as making bricks and cleaning classrooms.

He now has his eye set on becoming a Member of Parliament. For more about this story, read Sunday Vision. Subscribe to our #EPAPERhttps://bit.ly/39qqm7v  | #VisionUpdates
