The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has vowed to disqualify candidates who will be implicated in any form of cheating during the party primaries.

The warning was sounded by the party Deputy Secretary General, Richard Todwong, on Monday as he handed over the NRM voters register to the party's Electoral Commission.

He said anyone caught flouting the electoral rules, ballot stuffing; bribing voters among others will be dismissed.

"I would also like to warn our NRM staff. We shall not hesitate to dismiss you if you engage in rigging," he said.

Todwong said the party has close to 12 million registered voters who will take part in primaries.

"The Independent Electoral Commission has about 17 million registered voters but most of them are NRM. So you can imagine the confidence we have as we go into the general elections," he said.

According to Todwong, the party has made all arrangements to ensure that the Ministry of Health guidelines of social distancing and sanitizing are followed during the primaries.

Candidates have already started picking nomination forms for different positions in the party structure.
