Bulemeezi are the reigning champions of the 18-team annual tournament

Playing without fans in the stadium is one of the new rules and regulations amended by Masaza Cup organising committee headed by Sulaiman Ssejjengo.

Ssejjengo believes this is one of the ways they can avoid the spread of COVID-19 with the resumption of the competition scheduled for October.

"We are working hard to see how we can play without fans on the pitch. We also want to see how to compensate and support the teams without gate collections from fans," he noted.

The other rules amended include every team having a have coach with at least CAF C license and every medical personnel must be qualified among others.

Drawing up groups depending on the geographical location of the counties is other amendment that Ssejjengo says will reduce the movement of teams.

The 18-team Masaza Cup is an annual tournament organised by the Buganda Kingdom where the Kabaka usually graces the opening and closing events.

Bulemeezi are the reigning champions after edging Busiro 1-0 in finals last year.

The likes of Farouk Miya, Emmanuel Okwi, Brian Umony, Hamis Kizza, Yassar Mugerwa, Yunus Sentamu, Nelson Senkatuka, Robert Odongkara, Edrisa Lubega, Sula Matovu, and Godfrey Walusimbi among others are some of the players that have played in the Masaza Cup during their formative years.
