AGONY: He beat me into a coma, should I forgive him?

Last month, I almost died at his hands when he beat and left me for dead. When I regained consciousness, I was in the hospital. My eyes were damaged and my brain had clots.

My partner and I have been together for a few years. I am more financially stable than him, which has caused a lot of friction in our relationship, which sometimes results in fights.
He is also so insecure that he thinks every man who comes close is interested in me. Because of his insecurities, he beats me up.

He was charged with attempted murder and grievous harm and remanded to Luzira Prisons. Surprisingly, his family have never checked on me, yet we have a son. When my father contacted my partner's father, he said he was too busy to attend to his son's issue, claiming he considered him a disappointment.
My partner is out on bail and is pleading for forgiveness. I have a daughter from a previous relationship. My partner takes good care of us when he has money.
One time he paid my daughter's school fees. When I remember how he beat me, I fail to forgive. Yet, when I think about how good he has been to my daughter, I feel he deserves a second chance. What should I do?
