Last week he cried out for help from well-wishers after his landlord had kicked him out of his rented house

Days after re-known body builder and muscle man Geoffrey Lubega was kicked out of his house for failure to clear rent arrears, the reigning Mr Kampala has finally been rescued.

University of Pain gym that is owned by sports enthusiast Ruben Roberts has bailed him out with sh1m for rent and food stuffs.

Roberts urged stakeholders and authorities to save sportsmen especially in these trying times where sports globally is one of the most affected sectors to be hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

"When I read this story in New Vision and Bukedde papers, I felt touched and that is why the University of Pain came to his rescue. We have donated sh1m to help him rent a new house including food stuffs but they are not enough" Roberts said.

"Besides Lubega, there are many sportsmen struggling to cope up with life yet a few of them have had a chance to be bailed out and that's why I urge authorities to save sportsmen financially because these are national heroes," he added.

Lubega commended Roberts for the financial assistance and urged President Yoweri Museveni to ease the lockdown citing many sportsmen who are struggling financially.

"Besides selling second-hand shoes, I am a gym instructor but we all know gyms have been closed since March due to the coronavirus, we urge our beloved President to look into this. I commend Roberts for his good heart because few can afford to this," Lubega said.

Lubega, 26, last week cried out for help from well-wishers after his landlord had kicked him out of his rented house after he failed to clear sh750,000 in five months' rent arrears.

By the time Roberts came to Lubega's rescue, he had sought refuge at his friend's home in Busega and had sent his wife and two kids to his village in Mityana.
