Police in Mbarara has arrested a 35 year old Matooke vendor a resident of Nyakitunda village in Isingiro district after he was intercepted by police with a fake gun he has been using to terrorize people.

Police in Mbarara has arrested a 35 year old Matooke vendor a resident of Nyakitunda village in Isingiro district after he was intercepted by police with a fake gun he has been using to terrorize people.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region Police spokesperson identified Godfrey Byaruhanga and was intercepted by police with his colleague from Nkokonjeru in Kamukuzi Mbarara City North as they tried to rob a boda boda rider of his Motorcycle on Wednesday morning.

Kasasira said that unfortunately Byamugisha's accomplice only identified as Dogo Black also a Matooke vendor managed to escape as police launched his hunt.

"This operation came after an outcry from residents of Boma cell, Kakyeka cell,Kamukuzi cell and Nkokonjeru cell who kept complaining of a group of armed robbers who were terrorizing them at night" confirmed Kasasira.

Kasasira said that Byaruhanga will be charged with aggravated robbery pending investigations.

Meanwhile police in Mbarara has also arrested three people in connection to livestock theft, the arrested have been identified as Daniel Mukago, Geoffrey Mubangizi, Benon Nuwahereza an ex-convict from Nyamushekyera Prison all residents of Mbarara . Alex Mwesigye managed to escape the arrest.

Kasasira revealed that over the weekend, one Rodgers Kanamanya, 41, a resident of Nyarubanga cell in Mbarara city alerted Police that his two heifers had gone missing from the farm.

Police with the help of locals tressed the assailants  and arrested them while driving off Mbarara town in a Toyota Wish Reg.No UBF 859K white in color which they were traveling which  had been seen at the farm.

They were arrested and led police to where they had kept the two heifers. "Upon reaching there at the farm we found the two heifers had been tied with ropes in a farm on Mbarara bypass"

Kasasira confirmed that these will be charged with livestock theft and are currently detailed at Mbarara central police station.
