Canon Nelson Kaweesa the Namirembe Diocesan secretary and Canon Benon Kityo the Dean, St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe are due for retirement this year.

The two have served the church in various positions before until they have clocked the official retirement age of 65 years.

The Namirembe Diocesan bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira is expected to announce the annual general transfers, deployment for deacons and retirement for clergies during the forthcoming Diocesan Council scheduled for October this year.

However, sources from the diocese said it is not yet clear whether the October Diocesan council will be held due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The diocesan council which is held twice a year also addresses several other pastoral issues.

Sources from Namirembe Cathedral said the normal annual transfers and retirement for clergies will be effected even when the diocesan Council is not held.

The affected clergies will be communicated to through different channels.

The Diocesan secretary in Anglican Church is the chief administrative officer for the diocese manning all the day's work for the diocese while the Dean is the in-charge of the Cathedral affairs.

Retirement for the two top office bearers in the diocese has come at the time when the church like some other sectors is still in Covid-19 knockdown.

This has deprived chance for Christians to give them a magnificent send off for the pastoral work well done as the tradition been the tradition.
