Kyadondo East is represented in Parliament by Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine).

The Government has earmarked sh560m for the people of Kyadondo East constituency in Wakiso district for poverty alleviation.

The money will be sourced from the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation.

The programme will cater for 18 categories, including bodaboda operators, taxi operators, restaurants, women entrepreneurs, saloon operators, carpenters, welders, market vendors, people with disabilities, mechanics, journalists, performing artists, fishermen, produce dealers, veterans and youth leaders.

This was revealed by the Minister of State for Micro-Finance, Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, during the launch of the programme in Kyadondo East at Kasangati town council offices in Wakiso district recently.

The minister told the group leaders who attended the launch of the programme that people need to be rich but this cannot be achieved if they do not know what do.

He added that this is the time government is trying to stop some of the politicians who claim that they want to do away with President Museveni's leadership because there is poverty in the country.

Kasolo further advised the people of Kyadondo East to use this period of COVID-19 to work hard so that they stop depending on donations.

The minister also challenged them saying there was a market in their area but they sell nothing there and that goods come from distant areas produced by different people.

Spending time in non-development issues like politics and being extravagant breeds poverty and the minister advised the people of Kyadondo to abstain from them.

The programme will be closely monitored by the Uganda Microfinance Support Centre, according to one of the technical people, Abdul Bisaso.

Bisaso said the microfinance centre will offer training to all the beneficiaries to ensure that there is no mismanagement of the money.

The area deputy RDC, Justin Mbabazi, appealed to the people of Kyadondo East to embrace the programme, saying it was not a political one.

Mbabazi pointed out that working in groups was a very brilliant idea because many countries have developed using the same method.

Wakiso RDC Rose Kirabira advised the people to forget their political differences and form groups as advised by the minister so that they work together and fight poverty.
Kirabira later launched the programme.
