COVID-19: 16 more Ugandans test positive

16 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed from the COVID-19 tests done on July 03, 2020, according to the Ministry of Health.


They include 11 truck drivers of whom nine arrived via Malaba, one via Kerwa PoE in Yumbe district and one  via Elegu.

The other five are contacts of positive cases and include four people from Amuru and one from Namisindwa.

The ministry noted that 42 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry were denied entry into the country.

The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans is 927, however, the active cases on admission are 205 including 173 Ugandans, 25 foreigners, and seven refugees.

Uganda's total recoveries are 868 consisting of both Ugandans and foreigners.

The ministry stated that a total of 5,133 samples were tested, they include 2,993 samples from points of entry and 2,140 from alerts and contacts.
