Express FC has threatened to take legal action against Vipers over signing their skipper Disan Galiwango.

The Red Eagles through their club chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka revealed that Galiwango was still contracted to them.

''Express FC still has a valid contract and has not released or transferred Disan Galiwango. This has not come as a surprise to us," Kiwanuka tweeted shortly after Galiwango was unveiled at Vipers.

''While we respect his (Galiwango) wish to leave, the club has rights which Vipers SC is aware of. We intend to enforce them using all the legal avenues available to us. It has to stop. All must learn to respect each other otherwise the sport will just suffer," he added.

Galiwango who has been the subject of interest also from KCCA, reported he extended his contract at Express in March for which he received sh15m as sign on fee.

However, there are claims that Galiwango's contract extension was not registered with FUFA.

In fact, there are claims that Galiwango and his representatives had opted to return the sh15m to Express but that the club was unwilling to take the money back.

The versatile player who can play at the left-back and as a winger was unveiled on Wednesday at St Mary's Stadium in Kitende.

Barring any complications, he will compete for positions at Vipers with Azizi Kayondo and Farouk Musisi.

After being unveiled, Galiwango promised to live up to expectations

"In my view, Vipers is a big football brand in this country hence I'm honoured to be joining this great club. I promise to add value as expected," stated Galiwango.

Vipers tactician Fred Kajoba also admitted that Galiwango had been on the club's radar after an impressive season with Express and it was now "mission accomplished".

"Galiwango is a player with huge potential. But most importantly, he is also ready to come in and contribute right away which is a key factor," noted Kajoba.

The 22-year-old started his football career at Rifo Soccer Academy before being picked up by Simba SC at the start of the 2015/16 season, who thereafter their relegation bought The Saints FC.

He stayed with the army side throughout the 2016/17 season until January 2018 when Water FC acquired his services for half a season.

In August 2018, he was lured by Express where he has distinctively plied his trade before Vipers dangled an irresistible package.
