Minister warns on sticking to SOPs in hotels

Jun 24, 2020

"It is mainly the men complaining that the way they are served the food determines whether they will enjoy it or not," tourism state minister Godfrey Kiwanda.

Clients who go to hotels and order the staff to hug, peck, remove their face masks, and gloves when serving them should drop these habits. This was the warning sounded by state minister for tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda recently.

"It is mainly the men complaining that the way they are served the food determines whether they will enjoy it or not," revealed Kiwanda.

"These sophisticated clients want the gloves off the fingers to see the shape and vanish of the fingers of the waiters."

Kiwanda lamented that this is happening when the number of COVID-19 positive cases continues to go up. On top of that, the prevalence is spread across the country, besides truck drivers.

This was revealed at Skyz Hotel in Naguru on Tuesday, while launching the monitoring of adherence to SOPs put in place by the Ministry of Health to guide service providers in the prevention of the spreading of COVID-19.

"In the beginning, we were stuck with the sick patients quarantined in some hotels," said Kiwanda.

"People still had jittery feet to accommodate the patients for fear of infection. They now have a quarantine room if a suspect is got with high temperature."

This will be applied in national parks which will also have medical personnel on standby in case of any emergency.

"Be in touch and have a COVID-19 taskforce in place," Kiwanda advised hotel operators.
