Police arrest 25 bus operators in Mbarara

The police in Mbarara have arrested  25 bus operators, accusing them of disobeying lawful orders, as per President Yoweri Museveni's directives in regards to Covid-19.
 
In an operation carried out on Tuesday morning in Mbarara town, the police arrested 10 stouts in Mbarara Tax park, six were arrested along the high street and 09 arrested in Mbarara Bus park.

Samson Kasasira, the Police spokesperson Rwizi region, said an operation was carried out focusing mainly on stouts in the main business centres, following the presidential directive on who should operate and who should not.
 
Kasasira noted that the suspects are being arrested for disobeying lawful orders as per the presidential directives that prohibited them from operating during this period of the COVID19 pandemic.
 
According to police, the suspects are in police Custody at Mbarara Central Police station and their charges are on file number SD Ref 39/23/06/2020, SD Ref 47/23/06/2020 and SD Ref.41/23/06/2020 respectively.
