The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest of 32 suspects including those nabbed for selling goods from ungazatted places along different streets.

"We have arrested 32 suspects and are all in our detention at CPS, they will next week be arraigned in courts of law and charged with involvement in acts likely to cause the spread of infectious disease, which is coronavirus disease," Onyango revealed to New Vision.

According to Onyango, the suspects are drivers, traders, vendors, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, mobile money operators and mechanics, all accused of failure to adhere to President and Ministry of Health directives of wearing masks.

It should be noted that earlier this month, President Yoweri Museveni announced the mandatory wearing of masks as he extended the lockdown, but eased some of the imposed 35 restrictions.

"We are going to make it mandatory for everybody who is not in his/her house to wear a cloth face mask," the President said.
