COVID-19: Uganda confirms 14 new cases

All the 30 foreign truck drivers who tested positive of COVID-19 were handed over to their respective country of origin.

KAMPALA - The Ministry of Health has confirmed 14 new cases of COVID-19 from the 2,321 samples tested on Wednesday, June 10. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 679 in Uganda.

According to the press release signed by the Director-General of Health Services, Dr Henry G. Mwebesa, six new cases were among the 1,260 samples tested from points of entry while eight new cases were among the 1,061 samples of alerts and contacts.

All the confirmed cases are Ugandan.

Confirmed cases

The ministry stated that six of the confirmed cases are truck drivers. Three arrived from South Sudan via Elegu point of entry, two from Tanzania via Mutukula and one arrived through Lamwo district.

Eight other cases were alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases. They included; three contacts from Kampala who were under quarantine at the time of the test, two cases from Amuru, two from Dokolo and one from Moyo district.

To date, Uganda has registered a total of 120 COVID-19 recoveries and no COVID-19 related death.
