TRIBUTE |

A section of legislators has paid tribute to the fallen president of Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza.

Nkurunziza breathed his last on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest.

Gulu Municipality MP  Lyandro Komakech says his death was unfortunate at the time he was ready to hand over power, which could have been a milestone in the democracy of Africa.

"He was a flexible leader, he understood the challenges of Burundi, where it was coming from in past and where it should be going," Komakech added.

The Kampala Woman MP Nabillah Nagayi Sempala said it Is a pity that Nkurunziza died when he was about to make history in Africa.

"It is a tragedy for Africa's smooth hand over of power, because Nkurunziza was just 55, in Africa that is a very youthful age for leadership at the presidential level and for him to have an example of waiting to hand over power after accepting that somebody had won the elections,"Nagayi said.

Meanwhile, Isingiro county South MP Alex Byarugaba says the deceased worked for the unity of his people.
