Good news: Over 1000 test negative for COVID-19

According to the Ministry of Health, 551 samples were from truck drivers at border points of entry while the 481 were from individuals under institutional quarantine.

KAMPALA - Uganda has not registered any new case of COVID-19. All the 1,032 samples tested yesterday (Wednesday), were negative.

According to the Ministry of Health, 551 samples were from truck drivers at border points of entry while the 481 were from individuals under institutional quarantine and contacts in the country.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 still stands at 55.

In a press statement, the health ministry revealed that the previously confirmed case of a Ugandan male, truck driver who arrived from Kenya was tracked by security and surveillance teams and intercepted at Kamdini.

The statement added that he was evacuated to Entebbe Hospital for treatment as surveillance teams trace his contacts.

It further adds that a cumulative of 1,362 contacts to confirmed cases have been listed to date.

"Of these, 1,063 have completed the mandatory 14 days follow up period and will be dropped. 298 contacts are still being followed up by the surveillance teams and 181 individuals are under institutional quarantine," the statement reads.

Good news

Yesterday, four patients from Mulago Hospital were discharged after testing negative twice for COVID-19 bringing the total number of the discharged to twelve.

However, the Ministry of Health continues to appeal to the general population to remain calm but vigilant, practice the preventive measures and stay home.
