Sanyu Babies' Home receives govt relief food

As the government started relief food distribution to vulnerable homes who affected by the lockdown as a measure to contain the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, Sanyu Babies' Home in Namirembe received 500kg of maize flour.  

On behalf of the Prime Minister's office, the food handed over by the state minister for youth and children affairs, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi on Sunday.  

"The government is focused on making sure that the vulnerable children, elderly, sick and pregnant women get what to eat," Nakiwala said after handing over the 84 bags of maize flour containing 6kg each, 60 tins of milk (900L) and 100 boxes of Jetu Juice.

 

"We have 123 homes for children and all of them will get food so that our children do not die hunger," she added.

She called on Ugandans to remember the guidelines issued by the health ministry including social distancing and urged people to remain at home and observe hand hygiene in order to fight the spread of the pandemic. Uganda has 52 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Barbara Nankya Mutagubya on behalf of Sanyu Babies' Home thanked the government for thinking about them in this season of lockdown.
