Kabale businessman murdered

Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed that on Sunday, March 15, Amanya was murdered and his body was dumped by the roadside.

The Police in Kabale district are investigating the circumstances under which a businessman identified as Amon Paddy Amanya, was murdered.

Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed that on Sunday, March 15, Amanya was murdered and his body was dumped near the road that heads towards Highland tea factory, in Kitumbi Parish, at around 7 pm.  

He adds that Amanya, who is a resident of Kinyungusi village, in Upper Bugongi Northern division, in Kabale Municipality, has been operating a retail shop near centenary loans section.

"His body was recovered in Mumihanga cells, as unknown but later identified and taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for a post-mortem on Monday," said Police.

It is alleged that the deceased was last seen at his shop, at around 4pm. He later disappeared to an unknown place with all his known phone numbers, switched off.

This raised suspicion among his family and friends, who later notified Police about the matter.

"Today morning, his wife came to Kabale police station to report his missing husband, only to realize that the body of an unidentified person that had been picked by Police from Kitumba village was of her husband," said Police.

"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the motive and those behind his murder," Police added.

Another murder

Meanwhile, Police in Kabale has arrested six suspects believed to have lynched to death one, Livingstone Rukarekoha, a resident of Kategure cell, in Kigata Parish Kyanamira Sub County, in Kabale district.

The suspects include; the area chairperson one Karisti Katsigazi, 54, Selevesti Bebwa,64, Telesiforo Baguma, 49, Benon Besigye, 48, Sunday Medad 50, and Moses Aringitwe 45.

The deceased was allegedly roughed up while at Alice Tumwebaze's home and was lynched to death as he tried to flee, accusing him of throwing stones on the house of the area chairperson one, Karisiti, and damaged the iron sheets on Friday, last week. 

The incident took place on Sunday at around 9 pm, at Kategure cell. Police said that all the six suspects shall be charged with murder.
