Traffic along Kampala-Jinja highway was paralysed around Kigunga in Mukono district following a downpour that occurred this morning. The heavy rains caused a section of the road to flood.

 

 

 

Travellers from Mukono to Kampala and those from Kampala to Mukono used bodabodas due to the scarcity of taxis.

City businessman, Hajj Abas Ssimwogerere's family woke up to a clean field this morning. His banana plantation in Kabale Maguluka, Kyamuliibwa in Kalungu district had been slashed down by unknown lumpens. (Pictures by Ssennabulya Baagalayina)
 

 

LC officials said Ssimwogerere has had a standing battle with orphans of the late Mohammed Yiga Saaja who accused him of having encroached on their land.

 

Many residents suspect them to be the masterminds of the cruel act.
 

 

 

The area LC officials said that they had tried to intervene in the matters in vain and had since escalated them to the area RDC when this happened.

About 14 passengers survived death in Kiwumu Kalambi on Mityana road after a commuter taxi that was heading to Mubende collided with a Fuso truck that was loaded with charcoal. (Pictures by Abdu Muwonge)
 

 

 

Residents in the area blamed the accident on the taxi driver whom they accused of over speeding.

A group of commuter taxi drivers from Usafi taxi park stormed Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA), demanding that the executive director Eng. Andrew Kitaka directs all taxis back to the park.
 
 

 

The drivers held placards with messages saying that all taxis on the roadside should be drawn from the streets back into the park.

Celebrations for the International Women's Day were held across the globe. In Uganda, although the main celebrations, presided over by President Yoweri Museveni, were held in Mbale, many other districts organized local functions.

 

 

In Madi-Okoro, it was pomp and fanfare as the women marched into the grounds to mark their day.
