How Uganda celebrated Women's Day

In his speech, President Museveni called for the economic empowerment of women inorder to fight domestic violence.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - MARCH 8
Today we celebrate women and their contribution to our country. This year we are in Mbale for the 2020 International Women's Day Celebrations.This year's celebrations are under the theme, Celebrating 25 years of the 1995 Constitution: Milestones on promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in Uganda.
President Museveni speaks out on domestic violence
President Museveni said beating women is cowardly. "Why should you fight a woman who is weaker than you? " If you want to fight look for fellow men. We should explain that beating women is cowardly. Why should you fight a woman who is weaker than you? If you want to fight look for fellow men. I have been with Janet for 47 years, but I have never even pushed her. It is bad to believe in beating a woman,'' he said.
Museveni called for the economic empowerment of women. He said beating is tied to economic dependence. The president was addressing a gathering at the International Women's Day in Mbale.

Women are a strong resource to the development of this great nation.
I would suggest that we agree on a theme annually, which we then celebrate on the 8th of March, having made some gains.
