After the national team qualified for the HSBC Hong Kong7s due October 16-18, Uganda Rugby Union (URU) wants the side to go a step better.

URU now wants the Rugby Cranes to qualify for the 2020/2021 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Rugby manager Yayiro Kasasa said URU is waiting for a report from the technical team that travelled to Chile and Uruguay for World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series before coming up with a strategy.

"It was good exposure and we shall build on that going forward. we shall address the challenges on the pitch and also focus on how to improve the team," Kasasa said.

Rugby Cranes qualified for the Hong Kong sevens after collecting 19 points in the Chile and Uruguay editions of the series.

Uganda beat Italy 24-14, Uruguay 47-0 but lost to Germany 19-12 to finish seventh in Chile.

In Uruguay, Uganda beat Brazil but lost to Jamaica and Hong Kong.
