Brigadier Emmanuel Shillingi has urged the public to engage more in sport in order to chase non-communicable diseases from their lives.

The General Manager-NEC Uzima was speaking to the press after renewing its one-year sponsorship to the Corporate Games at the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) offices on Monday.

The corporates will enjoy 40 cartons of water at each outing throughout the year in the games that start on March 1.

"I want to thank Corporate Games for choosing Uzima Natural Mineral Water. This is a strategic partnership with inbuilt benefits which includes visibility of our products, mileage and reaching a big audience," Shillingi said.

"Sport is very important to society through competition and provides fitness by keeping our bodies healthy, fending off non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension.

"Water is the most important liquid in the world so I'm happy that you have made Uzima the choice of the Corporate Games," Shillingi stated.

The PRO NEC James Katongana said apart from the sponsorship their staff will participate effectively and actively in the games.

"We have staff that will participate in many of the activities to improve their fitness but also network," Katongana said.

Corporate Games vice-chairman Richard Okot who had earlier met with the managing director and chief executive officer of NEC signed on behalf of the Corporate Games.

"I call upon all companies that are participating this year and those that are still registering to come and enjoy this partnership.  I want to thank Uzima for renewing this partnership which is very important to the corporates," Okot said.

"Water is very important and this will reduce costs on water, so we encourage many companies to come and network, improve physical fitness and foster team building,"

"We have received testimony that the people who participate in these games have improved not only their health but also their input at their workplaces has improved, so there is more to the games than just playing," Thomas Bamuteeze the Corporate Games secretary said.
