Interim Cricket Cranes coach Davis Arinawe was happy with batsman Roger Mukasa's 76 runs in the national team T20 trial match ahead of the team's tour of Qatar and India.

"We have been trying to see to it that the guys get into the runs. It was nice to see Roger Mukasa score some runs. He has actually worked hard on his game, on his fitness, so it's nice to see some guys coming through," national team coach Arinawe said.

The Cricket Cranes are expected to travel to Asia on Sunday where they will work hard to lean as much as possible within a fortnight. This tour of Qatar and India is also supposed to sharpen the national team for the second round of the ICC challenge League Group B set to take place in Kampala.

Uganda needs to win all their matches in Kampala so this tour comes in very handy for Arinawe to complete the job Steve Tikolo started.

To start with, Arinawe is taking with him a team of youthful players as the Uganda Cricket Association works towards exposing as many players as possible to international cricket.

"This is actually a new project. We are trying to get as many players as possible to experience international cricket. We are carrying at least 10 under 23 players to India for 10 days. We shall have the senior team go to Qatar and five or six will join us in India," the coach explained.

The national team is expected to be flagged off on Friday at the NCS.
