Bombers impress coach Lihanda

Lihanda has 26 boxers, but only 13 will fly to Dakar on February 17 for Olympic qualifiers.

  
Patrick Lihanda, the head coach of the national boxing team is pleased with how the boxers have responded to his tactics.
 
"We have spent three weeks in camp and I am very happy with their reaction to my instructions. They are human and as you know, people are not easy to manage, but I must credit them for exhibiting this level of discipline," Lihanda said.
 
"The training facility is not the best but they give it all to get ready for the qualifiers." 
 
Lihanda who represented Uganda as a bomber in the 1984 Los Angeles and 1988 Seoul Olympics speaking during a visit by the State Minister for Sports Hamson Obua to the training camp in Luzira.
 
He said during his time as a boxer, they had better training facilities such as a gym  and hostel that helped them to perform well in international competitions.
 
"But when I look at things currently, I feel bad for these young boxers," Lihanda said.
 
"Look at our training facilities, the gym we are using is for taekwondo and yet we are practicing from here."
