Bombers head coach Patrick Lihanda said that boxers who do not meet the required standards ahead of the Africa Olympic Games Qualifier will be dropped.

The team is in camp at the Prisons Training School in Luzira for the continental event starting on February 20 in Senegal.

The team with 26 boxers has been in camp since January 16.

Eight men and five women qualified for the team after national trials that ended last month.

Thirteen more boxers were asked to join the team as training partners for the group after the national trials.

They are handled by nine coaches including one lady.

"Though we assured winners in the national qualifiers that they must be on the Bombers squad for the event in Senegal, things may change if one puts up a lukewarm performance in Luzira," Lihanda said.

"I am happy that this time, we have a well equipped camp as all the 26 boxers have gloves, skipping ropes and protective gear."

The team will leave camp on February 16 ahead of the trip to Senegal.

The top performers in Senegal will qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan later this year.
