NRM official succumbs to boda accident injuries

KAMPALA - A National Resistance Movement (NRM) delegate who was knocked by a speeding bodaboda shortly after the national conference on Saturday, has died.
 
Mary Lokel, 62, passed on at Nsambya Hospital on Thursday afternoon, a statement from the party secretariat said.
 
Lokel who was visited in hospital by the NRM secretary general, Justine Kasule Lumumba, was a member of the party women's league of Kaabong district.
 
 "On her way from Namboole, she was knocked down by a speeding bodaboda in Nakawa, a city suburb, as she crossed the road to pick a taxi to Luzira, where she was heading to spend a night at her daughter's home one Stella Lokel," the statement said.
 
"Lokel has since Saturday been in the Intensive Care Unit until she took her last breath this afternoon." 
 
The party said Lumumba had dispatched a team from the secretariat to join the family in the preliminary burial arrangements.
