Bob Trubish got a second bite at the Cherry as the Pool Association of Uganda chairman after he defeated Douglas Mayanja in absentia at an AGM that doubled as an elective assembly at the Pearl Highway Motel on Sunday.

Robert Kayanja will deputise Trubish as vice-chairman, while former General Secretary David Mugabi will take over as association treasurer.

Paul Wasike is the new General Secretary while Peter Kyobe beat Emmy Jondu by a landslide to retain his job as the Associations Publicity Secretary while Ismail Kalibabala will take over as tournament director.

Fauzah Namuganza was unchallenged as the women's affairs leader while Simon Waiswa takes over in the schools and institutions category.

"We have decided to create a new road for pool because we have had many other setbacks and this election is some light at the end of the tunnel for pool. We expect to move forward and not backward after this," vice-chairman Kayanja said.

The former chairman was pushed out of office by his executive committee in June 2019 but the delegates have resoundingly spoken after he beat Douglas Mayanja by 28-15 votes.

"The delegates decided to bring him back because they thought there is a lot he can still add to the sport. There were setbacks people tried to play with before coming here but this was a plus because we still need him and he still has ideas to contribute," Kayanja remarked.

Robert Kayanja confirmed that the first order of business is to ensure the National Open is brought back on the table. The biggest event on the pool calendar suffered because the main sponsors opted not to renew the deal.
