Rev. Kalende weds under tight security

The wedding was presided over by Rev. Erisa Mayanja from Kasubi. After asking if there was anything that could block the wedding and nobody raised it, the congregation burst into celebration.

Reverend Ronald Yobu Kalenda and Ssanyu Erusah Namuyige wedded on Friday at Namirembe Cathedral.

The function which was initially scheduled for Saturday was held a day earlier.

The wedding was presided over by Rev. Erisa Mayanja from Kasubi. After asking if there was anything that could block the wedding and nobody raised it, the congregation burst into celebration.

Kalende has been in news for fathering a baby with a member of the church choir, Perusi Nabirye, who reported him to authorities. The matter was resolved when the youth and child affairs minister, Nakiwala Kiyingi, intervened and met Kalende and Nabirye last week.

Kalende had denied responsibility and instead accused his colleague, Rev. Julius Matovu of Jjungo Parish, of being the father of the baby.

Following the scandal, the two were suspended from church service.

At the entrance, there was tight security as Policemen manning the entrance did not allow any unauthorised camera in the church or within the premises.
