In a bid to revive their faltering season, FUFA Big League side Katwe United has acquired former KCCA FC and SC Villa defender Habib Kavuma.

The left-back joined the Kampala based side on a three-year renewable contract subject to performance.

Katwe United, owned by Makindye West Member of Parliament Allan Ssewanyana's decision to sign Kavuma is aimed at not only helping the team remain in the FUFA Big League but also help them in their pursuit of promotion to the country's topflight league.

His vast experience both as a player and a leader will be a huge addition to the club. Kavuma who can also play in the center back also featured for Uganda Cranes and Bunamwaya (now Vipers) during his early days.

In a related development, the club released nine players who included;  Richard Kigozi alias Gaza, Kenneth Mudira, Joel Male, Ronald Sseku, Joshua Karissa, Denis Ojara among others.

Their second choice goalkeeper, Ali Mwerusi was permitted to join KCCA FC to advance his professional career.

Katwe United, coached by FUFA Big League ‘specialist' Allan Kabonge Kivewala will have to double their efforts in the second round if they are to directly gain promotion to the top tier or reach the play-offs.

By the end of the first round, Katwe United was bottom of the Elgon Group on four points.
