Despite being top of the FUFA Women Super League, Lady Doves coach John Ongodia feels his side is not yet at the level he wants it to be.

Doves beat defending champions UCU Lady Cardinals 2-1 on Sunday at Mukono to extend their lead in the FUFA Women Super League to 12 points, three above Kawempe Muslim.

"We are still a work in progress. We need to improve tremendously if we are to think of winning the title. So far the players are doing their best and I believe we shall continue to push them so that they perform to their best," Ongodia stated.

The former Olila Women FC tactician also believes his side needs to beef up the team with more players before the league resumes after the festival season in January.

"We need to add close to five players, especially in midfield and in the attack. At the moment we have Fazila Ikwaput as our lead striker. In case she is injured or marked-out in a game we can suffer," he added.

Ikwaput who took her tally to six goals was on target for Doves with Kellen Mutuuzo grabbing the other while Jackie Nakasi scored a consolation for UCU.

The newly created second-tier women league is intended to revamp the domestic competition and create revenue-generating avenues for women football.

The league consists of teams that finished in the top four positions last season.
